This page contains general information and instructions regarding the use of Shaw's Web Server.
Please read carefully before proceeding.
This server supports:
FrontPage extensions - Enabled on request
WebBots - Enabled with FrontPage extensions
CGI - Enabled by default
SSI - Enabled by default
ASP - Enabled by default
Java Applets - Enabled by default
HTML - Enabled by default

You FTP/publish to your site using:
Host name/Address: - ftp.yourdomain (e.g.: ftp.rocky.bc.ca) or 24.64.63.29 (only as a last resort)
Login: - Supplied on your configuration sheet
Password: - Supplied on your configuration sheet

You can upload/publish your web site using:
FTP client (WSFTP, CuteFTP, Dreamweaver, Netscape Composer, etc)
FrontPage client versions 1.1
FrontPage 97
FrontPage 98
FrontPage 2000

When you login you will see the following file structure:
/cgi-bin This directory is where CGI scripts are to be placed.  Permissions for this directory and the files within need to be set to 755 (rwxr-xr-x).
/data This directory is necessary for CGI scripts to function properly.  Files stored in this location are accessable only by FTP login and password.  Permissions for this directory and the files within need to be set to 700 (rwx------).
/html This directory is where HTML/web pages are to be placed.  Permissions for this directory and the files within need to be set to 755 (rwxr-xr-x).
/_private
This subdirectory is where Microsoft FrontPage stores your template files and other HTML fragment files.  This directory only exists if FrontPage is enabled.
/_vti_bin
This subdirectory is necessary for FrontPage extensions to function properly.  This directory only exists if FrontPage is enabled.
/_vti_cnf
This subdirectory is necessary for FrontPage extensions to function properly.  This directory only exists if FrontPage is enabled.
/_vti_pvt
This subdirectory is necessary for FrontPage extensions to function properly.  This directory only exists if FrontPage is enabled.
/_vti_txt
This subdirectory is necessary for FrontPage extensions to function properly.  This directory only exists if FrontPage is enabled.
/images
Images on your web site can be placed in this directory.  This directory only exists if FrontPage is enabled.
.nsconfig
This file is the equivalent of .htaccess files.  Only modify if you are familiar with .htaccess files.
*Do NOT FTP/publish to the root (/) directory.  Your web site will not function properly.
*Do NOT delete any of the above directories or files in these directories unless you placed them there.  If any of these are deleted your web site may stop functioning.
*The maximum number of simultaneous FTP sessions is 5.
